Connecting the dots...

Here's a little background first...  A few weeks ago, we went camping and Isaac helped me build a campfire to cook our dinner in.  Once the fire was roarin', Michelle made some awesome chicken and cheese burritos.  I snagged a couple of the longer sticks we had found and cooked them up over the fire.  Them's were some good eats!   Now, on with the story...

Tonight we read in the Book of Mormon where the Lord commanded Nephi to build a ship.  We read about how the Lord had directed Nephi to where he could find ore to make tools.  In the next verse, Nephi explains how he "did smite two stones together that [he] might make fire."

I then proceeded to explain to Isaac that Nephi had made a fire so that he could make tools.

Isaac then asked, "Is Nephi going to make burritos too?"

It took us a quick second, but Michelle and I caught on and silently chuckled.  I then explained, "Well no, he was going to make tools."

It is so exciting to see Isaac's memory expand and watch as his little mind puts things together!  What a stud!

Happy Brithday Isaac

Isaac is now officially three years old. (As of yesterday at 3am) We had some friends over for cake and ice cream, and he got to open presents. This was his cake that I made. The car was supposed to be red, but red doesn't work too well. I eventually gave up and asked Isaac if that color was okay, and he said yes, so I said we're good! He picked out everything from the shape to the flavor to the ice cream.

He was so excited to have his birthday, and his own cake etc. It's fun that's he's starting to understand all of it, though I can not believe 3 years has gone by. It went way too fast!

It took him a little bit to get his candles blown out, and I think there might have been some spitting on the cake on accident, but he got it, and was so proud!

These are some pf his presents and his friends helping him enjoy them! His biggest present from us is not pictured here. We got him a bike, and I don't have any pictures of it yet, but I will soon.

Overall he had a good birthday. He's already excited for another one next year.
We are so glad to have him in our family, he is one of the sweetest kids, very mellow and easy going. I always get comments from friends, nursery leaders etc, about how sweet he is.
Happy Birthday Isaac

4th of July

I know this is a little late, but I'm slowly catching up! 
We had a fun 4th and 5th of July, actually the whole weekend was fun.  We had a BBQ with the neighbors Sat night, and did some fireworks and then watched the Stadium of Fire from our yard.  Then Sunday was just a nice relaxing day with my brother and his family.  Then on Monday we started off the day watching the hot air balloons from our front yard- Isaac was a big fan.  One of them (pictured below) was having a hard time and almost came down a couple of times right by our house. 

 Then we went over to the parade and festival.  During the parade I thought Isaac was getting a little bored.  But he has since then asked to go and watch the parade multiple times.  So I think he really liked it. 

 This was my favorite float.  I don't remember who did it, but it was something about children's dreams.  The theme was the movie "How to Train your Dragon", and they did an awesome job.  This is just the back of it. 

 Emily slept for the first part of the parade, and then she was up and alert the rest of the time we were out. 

The next three pictures are just for Aunt Gayleen.  She is coming out here this fall to go to UVU and do their Aviation program.  So this is a special tribute to her!  We're excited to have her live by us. 

It was a fun Fourth weekend, and I do admit, I love being in Provo this time of year.  There is always a lot going on, and there is a great spirit of patriotism here.

Temple Square

The day we picked up Uncle Corbin from the airport, we had to be up there in the morning to drop my parents off, and we had a few hours in between to kill, so we spent some time on Temple Square.  It was really fun, and Isaac had a blast looking at all the statues and displays.  He kept running around saying, "Take a picture of me mom!"  It was cute for the most part.  It wasn't so cute when he bit Emily in the bathroom, and I got after him, which of course makes him start crying.  And of course, it's in the bathroom which echos like crazy.  So we come out and there's a Sister missionary standing there looking very concerned.  She asked Isaac if everything was okay.  Wasn't a big fan of that.  But other than that Isaac and Emily did a fantastic job, and of course, Isaac loved seeing Uncle Corbin at the end!

 Every Sister missionary who stopped us just cooed over Emily.  And Emily was very obliging in her smiles.  I think she smiled at almost everyone.  They all loved her. 

 Proof that I really was there too!

 I love the Salt Lake temple.  It's so beautiful and it's amazing to think that the pioneers built this with ox carts and chisels.  Crazy!

Uncle Corbin

Brandon's brother Corbin just went into the MTC, and we were able to drop him off. He flew in on a Tue night, and then we were able to take him in Wed afternoon. We are so proud of Corbin. He is going to the Baltic mission, and he is spending 2 months in the MTC here in Provo to learn Latvian and Lithuanian. He will be an awesome missionary, and will be able to be a great influence for good in many people's lives by helping them come unto Christ.

Isaac was so glad to have Uncle Corbin around, even if it was only for one night!

We love you Uncle Corbin and you're in our prayers.

More fun times

My parents were able to come out while Art and Sierra were here, and we had a blast with them.  We wish we lived closer to them, but that's life. 

We were able to go swimming with them, and all the kids had a blast.  Isaac isn't the biggest fan of cold water, so he spent most of his time up on the edge.  And he really hates getting his face in the water.  But he loved playing catch, and eventually playing with a little torpedo actually in the water.  Emily did not like the water at all.  If you put her in, even just her feet, her face would instantly scrunch up, and she would start to cry.  So she spent her time in her car seat on the edge. 

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for coming out and playing!

Fun Times with Family

My brother and his family have been here in Utah for an internship so we have been able to spend some time with them this summer. (They live in Florida right now.) When my mom was out here, we went up to Thanksgiving Point to their farm country and the boys all had a ball. They each got to ride the horses twice, and they were in heaven. They also got to feed corn to the animals. It was so much fun to see them and spend time with them.
